Some interesting hands from Round Robin:
Round Robin 1a
Boards 1, 7 theme not opening 1NT with 5-4-2-2 Jack vs Q-Plus Bridge
Semifinals, 64-board matches
The carryover formula in IMPs is the smaller of the difference between the
overall VPs and the head-to-head VPs. So to have any carryover you must be
higher in the round robin standing and have won your head-to-head match. In an exciting semifinal, WBridge5 just beat Micro Bridge
162-161
Round Robin 7a Boards
3, 7, 14 Micro Bridge vs WBridge5
* Due to an error in the round robin total, not noticed until September 6, Micro Bridge was not awarded the correct carryover in the semifinal match. The carryover should have been 12 IMPs rather than 10, and Micro Bridge would have won, 163-162. A very unfortunate situation!

Congratulations to Hans Kuijf, developer of Jack and to Yves Costel, developer of WBridge5 as well as other top finishers.
Jack developer Hans Kuijf is presented the honors (a picture of the official trophy) by WBF president Gianarrigo Rona. The other members of the Jack team are Wim Heemskerk and Martin Pattenier.
From Al Levy, organizer... Much thanks goes to Gérard Joyez, who took over the on-site running of the event when I had emergency surgery days before I was to leave for Lille (I am doing well after a gallbladder removal). Also, much thanks goes to the ACBL ans WBF for sponsoring the event, to the WBF and IMSA for hosting the event, and to ACBL CEO Robert Hartman, WBF president Gianarrigo Rona and IMSA president Jóse Damiani for their support. Congratulations to Hans Kuijf and the winning Jack team, Yves Costel, runner-up, and to all the participants whose dedicated efforts have advanced robot play and whose software have helped youngsters learn our great game and entertain many of our more experienced players.
